Life is a lemon and I want my money back...

I was going to complain about how life keeps handing me lemons but it suddenly occurs to me that if you are growing the lemons you actually have it pretty good. Hmm...maybe that explains the lure of people doing their own thing. Unfortunately we have this being called a Suit that is offering to sell the lemons for you then only giving you one quarter for every dollar a lemon makes.

Huh. Never thought I would be using the life/lemon analogy in this way but it seems to work.

I just looked back on my other posts and and I posted that I planted the seeds on the 9th of this month. That means that the excellent growth I’m seeing is from _five_ _days_. Check it out:

Only 5 days. Wow!

Still haven’t figured out why my daughter’s bean wilted but I suppose I can just plant a couple more just like it. The only thing I can think of is that because the previous owner let the garden go completely fallow it acted like compost and with all this ran we’ve had has made almost perfect starter conditions. I’m just absolutely astounded at how fast these spring up.

Now all I have to do is keep them alive and weed free. No easy task that but I do enjoy it.

Hopefully I’ll have time to turn over the soil directly behind the garage so I can get the pepper plants put into the ground. I’d like slightly more mounded soil back there but that’s not in the cards right now and I need to get them in the ground before it’s too late.

I still need to clean up the other two sides beds of the garden but that’s a lot of work since they all seem to have a lot of weeds and things with runners. Like I told my wife last night I’m probably going to till all this up completely before planting next year. She suggested the end of the season which is a good idea. I likely will just buy a tiller since I intend to keep a garden every year and that means I’ll actually use it. I don’t need a large one. I can’t afford one right now because need to get other things but by the time I need it I should be able to afford it. (I hope so anyway.)

I need to trim the peonies after the wind storm. A number of people have told me that they’ll bloom multiple times in a year so I should be able to just trim the dead ones off and have them come back.

I definitely need to pick up soaker hoses this weekend though. It’ll make watering the garden a hell of a lot easier...
