I’d even be happy living in an opal mine style house underground.

I’m getting that fed up with life.

*sigh*

Wouldn’t matter anyway as we don’t have any money to move nor would my daughter be able to get services in the outback.

I’m so tired of day-to-day crap. It’s like it never ends. Maybe it’s just because I’m worn out but I really don’t want to do this stuff for the rest of my life. I just can’t find something to do that will pay the bills. Right now this is the most stable job I can get so I have to keep it.

Snow has hit in the upper east already - a foot or more as well - so I definitely need to rig the mower for snow.

I would have liked to have more done before first snow but this year seems to have really run me over with a large turbo-zamboni. (Faster than your average zamboni but still extremely heavy, slow, and painful.)

(...)

I just realized that I’m suddenly having trouble caring about anything. Period.

Well since I’m taking Friday off for the holiday maybe I’ll care on Monday.

Or maybe not.

Maybe I’ll try and get some meditation in when I get home. I’m in desperate need of some quiet in my life. Maybe someone cursed me with the “May you live in interesting times.” curse. Or some variant thereof anyway.

I’m just mindlessly rambling now. Sorry.

*pulls it together*

So I need to do my wife’s brakes soon. Likely this weekend but we’ll have to see how the finances look. I also need to change the fluids in my truck as well for winter. I’ve still got a pinhole leak in something antifreeze related but the engine seems to be cooling itself just fine.

Need to contact my neighbor and tell her that I think I’ve found a solution to her dvd drive problem. Maybe I’ll just mail her the registry file she needs. That might be best.

On a weird note I seem to have acquired the ability to sing fairly Kermit-ish to A Boy and His Frog. Not sure where that ability came from but as far as the song is concerned it’s fairly consistent. Talking like Kermit still is hit or miss. Not that I’m trying to improve that skill or anything but it would be nice to have.

Make that two plots...
and I figure that between us we could rig whatever else we needed.

Y'know it's funny but I always thought that with some simple materials and a lot of digging you could easily make an underground living space 'ala Dune in a really arid area.

All it would take would be a lot of digging to get below a certain level and then you could put in a condensation "tower" to generate potable water. The Bedouin (sp?) do similar things but not on a deep scale.

With modern materials at your disposal you could easily create those solar light conducting tubes to bring light down a significant distance. A concrete form tube with silver Mylar inside would easily conduct the light and could be closed off from the heat.

It's certainly doable and something that if I owned a mountain or cheap desert/scrub plot would certainly consider doing.

I once dreamed of living in dwarven halls of stone...now I'm just hoping to not have to work for the rest of my life.
