Runoff to the big empty...

Found out what was causing the gutter to bend yesterday - the downspout was clogged with maple seeds. Cleaned it out and bent it all back up and it’s just fine. Got some grit in the rain barrel from that despite the screen but the stuff is only for garden use anyway so that’s not an issue.

Just got notice that my “official welcome kit’ for Bank Of America is in the mail since they bought Countrywide. I thank the Goddess that we have a fixed-rate/fixed terms mortgage otherwise we’d be in trouble. As it is I’m fixing to pay May’s mortgage payment next week just to be sure. Regardless I’m sure that we’ll get one mistaken call from an overseas call center regardless of if we’re on time or not. *groan*

I’m so glad we got rid of all but our mortgage and the personal loan. I realize how lucky we are compared to the average family when it comes to debt. (Having no credit cards and such.) Makes me feel a bit guilty about being happy about our credit situation but I can’t help it.

Lowered the LED grow light closer to the plants because they’re growing a little crooked. I need to get another one of those. I also realized that I’ve been an idiot and don’t have that light on a timer. *headdesk* So I’ll probably pick up a $7 timer later today so that’s taken care of. I’d use X10 controller stuff but I’m busy re-doing that right now.

Didn’t get on the Wii Fit yesterday but I was pretty wiped by the time I got home anyway so I at least got some exercise. I’m getting more at work today doing wiring stuff. I’ll have to remember to add that to my activity log when I get home.

Of course it doesn’t help that I was wide awake at 2:30 am today. Not sure what that was about but it’s par for the course lately.

*shifts in his seat*

I’m getting too old for this shit....

I’m hoping that once I get more in the habit of exercising that I’ll gradually get more flexible over time. I’m taking glucosamine among other things to help the joints but I think they just need to be worked. *shrug*

They were talking about the oligarchy of the banking industry on WPR last night. It was pretty interesting but they didn’t answer the one question that I wanted answered. What do we do if the oligarchy refuses to return control to the people? I can’t help but shudder at the possibilities because the only thing I can see then is open rebellion.

Change is happening but is it enough change? I notice that GM’s stock fell at least once to below $2 today. The sobering thought in my head is that that might be the fate of most of the large companies in the US.

But as I’ve said in the past that could be a good thing. There’s already a resurgence in the sustainable living communities and they’re spreading. Maybe what we’d become would be a nation of agricultural people and artisans again. A nice dream....

...but not too likely...
