What would The Doctor do?

January 1, 2010 10:34 PM 1/1/10

And so a new year begins...

They say that what you do on New Years Day you do all year. I’m not sure if I believe that really but there’s no harm in trying for a little good providence now and then.

So today I’ve accomplished a number of things.

I...managed to relax a little today.

I helped out for a good cause.

I fixed something in the workshop.

I ate heartily.

I spent time with my family.

I managed to write more fiction.

And several other things.

But most importantly?

The most important thing I’ve done on this first day of this new decade?

I dreamed of the future. I dreamed of the future and charted my course on the sea of time.

And that I believe is one of the most important things I could have done.

So to all grand dreams of the future and the magic of a new year and a new decade...and perhaps...perhaps some peace.

Dreaming is difficult. For so long I didn't have big dreams. And for some time I've barely thought about the future except to be afraid of it.

I saw _The Princess and the Frog_ last week and got very watery-eyed during some of it, both any scenes between the girl and her dad (because I am very close with my dad, and he's 80) and during any talks about having a dream.

But I do have dreams, somewhere. Buried in half-forgotten files or half-enchanted memories (because I do remember that my paradise has mosquitoes *wry smile*), but maybe I can unearth them, clear a path or two, and head forward.
