So in between job arrangements with the recruiter I had a chance to re-watch The Dark Crystal. I haven't seen it in quite some time and despite the age it holds up pretty well.

One thing that always amazes me with such films is how beautiful they are. I mean there was CGI for some of the movies in the 80's but for the most part fantasy films like this one had large sets and well detailed props. I miss that in movies. While CGI becomes more and more detailed something else seems to be missing.

Regardless even at this age the movie still invokes a sense of wonder in me. :-) Do you they still sell Fizzgig puppets? No cash to buy one but it's certainly added to my Amazon wish list. *grin*

So my left hand is getting worse. Looks like I either pulled the muscle in the back of it or did something to the tendons back there. While I wear the brace I'm fine which is good because I sure as hell can't afford to get it looked at.

In other madness I've had to re-do the antenna structure on one of my Evo N610c notebooks. Fortunately I had a couple of the flat copper antennas with long leads on them. I had to move them to the outer skin of the notebook because the N600 series notebooks actually have metal lids on the LCD assemblies which blocks the signal considerably. Anyways I'm going to set them in place using some carefully trimmed contact paper. It won't be the prettiest thing in the world but it should hold the antennas and wireing in place quite nicely. Eventually I'd like to do something artistic with the wires and antennas. Maybe use some epoxy or Sculpey to create a relief design and then paint it with bronze color or something. If there was a way to make it look like a copper tile without involving metal I'd do that. Hmm...

It's weird having a Windows laptop again. I really didn't want to do that but necessity often trumps the best of desires. Now I suppose I'll have to scare up a real copy of Office somewhere. I've got LibreOffice installed on it currently and that will do for most things but if I'm going to have a Windows box I should have one all the way I guess.

Back to applying for jobs on the web...
