Life has a certain symmetry to it. I’ve saved all this money in gas the last couple of weeks and today I just spent $130.95 to get the replacement spider gears to repair my truck.
I think though that my wife is coming around to my thinking on riding the bike. She really really likes her iPod and wants to be able to buy music for it. If I keep riding the bike she’ll have that extra money to spend for music.
Need to update my tags on all my Livejournal entries. I now have so many entries that I can’t find certain things - like all my filk lyrics. The problem is that I’m using Macjournal to post to Livejournal and the posting function does not have a Tags attachment. I think I will suggest that to Dan Schimpf. He’s the guy who created and maintains Macjournal and seems to be pretty receptive to suggestions and other such things. One of the better people in the world it seems...
Got most of the stuff on my list done yesterday. I only got two loads of laundry done but I did get pretty much everything else done. I need to go out and get rose cones and boxes to cover the flowers as well as Spectracide to spray to get rid of the weeds. Then all I’ll have left to do is pull up the weeds inside the flowers. themselves - mostly Thompson Grass which gets into everything. The lilies are going to be a pain because the only way to get the grass out of them is to dig them up, separate the grass, then re-plant them. Fortunately they are not deep plants (bulbs) and also fortunately there aren’t a lot of them.
A little chilly during lunch. I rode to the restaurant without my gloves on and my hands were a little cold.
Still haven’t pulled the books from the book sale out of the back of my wife’s mini-van. I’ll probably do that today but I need to clean out a place to store them first. If you have seen the anime Read or Die then you probably have a pretty good idea of how much my wife and I love books. We’re pretty voracious readers when it comes down to it and we just can’t bear to be parted with them. You can never have enough books! ^_^
Didn’t sleep well last night. Woke up for some reason at 2:30 a.m. and couldn’t get back to sleep until 3:00. And even then I didn’t really sleep so much as doze until the alarm clock went off at 4:30. I’m getting a little more tolerant of the sleep thing since my health has been getting better. I still need to make sure that I get exercise before I eat when I get home each day. That’s key to getting all this stuff under control and losing weight among other things.
Need to buy my fishing license for this year. My current one expired in April so I can’t go fishing currently. I also need to start getting my boat ready to go out once I get my truck repaired. I think I’m going to get the one set of kayak wheels and modify them to fit my boat so I can keep the boat stocked and just pull it around the back of the garage with the lawn tractor. I really should get a small trailer and get my parking brake properly repaired so I can just do the same thing as the other boaters are doing. That unfortunately will likely cost about $500. I might be able to make one for less but I’d have to see. (That reminds me - I need to replace the trailer connectors in my rear brake light circuits as one has already proven to be intermittent and the other is likely also bad.)
That’s funny. There’s a lot of things in my life that cost about $500 or so. A basic G4 laptop, boat stuff, bike stuff, software, hardware, etc. That $500 seems to be the cutoff point where things become too much for me to afford without making special arrangements. I should probably do something about that...
We seem to be on a better track now. We’re managing our finances, making repairs to stuff or replacing stuff, buying ourselves some nice things. We are definitely doing better but I’m not willing to say we’re over the rim of the bucket. We’ve likely got a long way to go before that happens. I’m sure that we can get there now even if the universe throws things at us. It may take time, there will definitely be delays along the road, but we’ll get there.
I just wish the trip didn’t have to take so long...
