Yeah...that’s about how cohesive I feel right now...

Went to bed late because I was reading The Passing of the Technomages and got lost in it. I’m about a third of the way through the book (all three books in one volume) and it’s a damn good read! It gives some serious insight into how and why Galen does some of the things he does. It also gives a considerably closer look at how The Order (of technomages) is organized and gives some very cool back-story on some things.

Waiting for the new Babylon 5 DVD with the three new stories on it. I think they could easily pick up and run another series in that universe if they took the time to write another complete arc like JMS and crew did the first time. Too bad that couldn’t be done properly with Crusade but sometimes that happens. I think Crusade should at least be finished if possible just for completeness. But that is unlikely to happen.

Our technology will be at that stage in another couple of decades provided we don’t kill ourselves first. Those will be some wondrous times they will. I’m looking forward to them.

Of course this is where my hope for the future and my tinfoil fight constantly. Dystopia or Utopia? That is the question isn’t it. I favor the view that, provided we don’t destroy ourselves or the planet, some sort of balance between the two will happen. It’s a safe bet really as that’s the tendency of the universe when two equal forces are at play.

Still...if there’s a possibility that we can all become empowered through either technology or nature to the level that is indistinguishable from magic I’m all for it. At least as long as the price isn’t too high. But then people set different prices on things...

Regardless the book is a good read and I highly recommend it for people that read SciFi and are fans of B5.

The tail lights for my bike came in yesterday and they will look _perfect_ under the seat. So much so that I will likely install them next weekend if I can. That means removing the existing tail light, seat box, and rear fender but I was going to pull those anyway and it looks like those don’t have too many bolts holding them on. I’ll also have to fashion a license place bracket but that’s damn easy too.

My truck on the other hand is going to take a lot of money to fix completely. I found out yesterday why my brake pads and rotors keep getting eaten up on the passenger side. The edges that the caliper/brake pads slide on are seriously worn and gouged so the caliper is not sliding properly. On top of that the piston in the caliper is cracked badly. So what I need to replace is both the caliper AND the wheel hub itself. That’s not going to be cheap. May be time to get another vehicle loan but I really don’t want to do that if I can avoid it. But there’s also no point in spending up my cash reserves repairing the truck if it’s over $1k in repairs.

I hate these decisions because they suck no matter what direction you take. My life seems to be filled with those...
