When it’s Tuesday!
Today has been a cluster-fuck so far. I have not yet put my tie on. (To give you some perspective on that statement I usually put my tie on around 7:30 a.m at the office. So many things hit before that time and until now that I have not performed my daily tie installation. ;-)
I came into work to a number of small problems and one serious one. I’ve manage to handle most of them so far this morning but at lest one of them is going to not go away and cost me hours of work. (Thankfully that one is not my fault as an outside service tech was the source of the problem.)
This holiday weekend wasn’t too bad. Had friends up from downstate and had fun. Thankfully I got most of the house clean in time.
At this point most of the house is clean but a little cluttered. There’s still stuff sitting in the upstairs living room that needs to be placed and clothes that need to be put away in the bedroom but we’re making progress. (My office is a disaster though.)
I should have known that there were going to be problems today. It actually started yesterday when my lawn tractor wouldn’t run. (It does the wonderful run then bog, run then bog. You can watch fuel puddle in the neck of the carburetor. Not good.) So I didn’t get the lawn mowed. I’l probably mow it with the push mower today so it doesn’t get any longer.
Added acid to my dad’s motorcycle battery and it now charges and keeps a charge correctly. (Duh!) So I should be able to get that started and running this week and then back to my dad this coming weekend. That will make one more thing finished on my list of things to do.
My general manager will be out all week so I can’t bring that TV in and ship it yet unfortunately.
This weekend, though fun, wore me out. I actually slept on the couch twice because my daughter gets up early in the morning and has to watch her TiVo episodes. I might buy my wife a TiVo and move the existing TiVo out to the living room so she’s out of our bedroom. I think it might be worth the extra money.
Waiting on pins and needles for my replacement speedometer. It sucks that I can’t ride the bike until that arrives. :-(
I’m probably going to have to spend another $50 to fill up the tank on the truck tomorrow. After a while it gets to feeling like you’re driving something with a gallons-per-mile rating instead of a miles-per-gallon rating...
Finished all of the Full Metal Panic! anime DVDs. (All three series.) It was pretty good actually even if some things didn’t work out the way I expected. There’s supposedly a 30 minute OVA out there besides the original three series but I’ll be damned if I know where to find it.
Copied my entire collection of anime music videos onto my MacBook this weekend so I can cull out the ones I like to play regularly. I went from about 73 gig free to 37 gig free. That’s a _lot_ of video. I’ll watch it over the next week and throw out the ones I don’t want to replay. That should be at least half of them and should free up considerable amounts of space. (Of course the multiple 200 - 500 meg files I have for other reasons also would free up quite a bit if trashed.)
Speaking of large files...I downloaded all three VMS freeware files for 7.0 and hopefully will get them installed on my Vaxstation 4000-60 once I re-load it. I’ve got an OpenVMS CD ready for it but I can’t find the one SCSI cable I need for my drive to re-load the machine. I’ll likely take out the 426 meg drive that’s in it and install one of the spare 18 gig drives I have lying around. That will give me an almost infinite amount of space on a VAX to play around with. For some bizarre reason I want to run a MUD on it. I don’t know where that comes from but it’s part of what I want to do with that machine besides learn VMS.
It’s odd but after starting out on PDP systems growing up I had my hands in VMS the other day and I felt at home...
